White discharge, medically known as leucorrhea, is a common condition where there is excessive vaginal discharge. Causes range from physiological (normal cyclic discharge) to pathological — infections, hormonal imbalance, poor hygiene, or digestive and metabolic issues. At Stree Vaidya we evaluate the cause and treat using targeted Ayurvedic therapies, herbal medicines and lifestyle corrections to restore vaginal and systemic balance.
Symptoms may vary — correct diagnosis is important to distinguish normal discharge from pathological leucorrhea.
Leucorrhea can be physiological or due to infections and systemic imbalance; identification of cause guides treatment.
Causes include local infections (bacterial vaginosis, yeast/candida, trichomonas), hormonal disturbances, poor genital hygiene, retained vaginal irritants, or systemic digestive/immune imbalance. In Ayurveda, weak agni (digestion), accumulation of ama (toxins) and vitiation of kapha/ajnya dosha commonly underlie recurrent discharge.
We treat both local symptoms and underlying systemic causes for lasting relief.
Acute infectious discharge often improves in 1–3 weeks with appropriate combined local and internal treatment. Chronic or recurrent cases may require 1–3 months of systemic therapy and lifestyle correction for steady improvement and relapse prevention.
Support treatment with digestive care, hygiene and immune-supporting diet.
Common questions and practical answers about leucorrhea and its Ayurvedic management.
Normal discharge is usually thin, clear or white, odorless and varies with the menstrual cycle. Seek medical advice if discharge is persistent, foul-smelling, coloured (yellow/green), associated with itching, burning or pelvic pain.
Yes — our protocols include local antiseptic washes, herbal topical treatments and internal medicines to address infection, correct digestion and strengthen mucosal immunity. We use lab tests when needed to guide targeted care.
Treatment depends on the identified cause. If bacterial or protozoal infection is diagnosed, targeted antimicrobial therapy (sometimes in combination with Ayurvedic care) may be needed. We aim to use safe, evidence-informed approaches and coordinate with other clinicians when necessary.
Maintain genital hygiene, avoid irritants, follow dietary guidance to support digestion and immunity, treat any partner if infection is sexually transmitted, and complete the full course of treatment including follow-ups.
Some local measures are safe, but pregnancy requires extra caution. Always consult your doctor before using any local or internal medicines during pregnancy. We provide pregnancy-safe protocols where indicated.
